Argentina

It is difficult to measure how much important this place is. Founded in 1886 by Thomas Bridges, Estancia Harberton was the first venture to be established in Tierra del Fuego. Although the development of the resort took place, Harberton kept the history and its original constructions intact, being managed until today by the family of its founders. Harberton served as a scenery for the book “21 Days at The End of The World” due to its beauty and historical importance, which largely, merges with the history of the native peoples. Thank you so much Abby for the beatful picture.

Book “21 Days at The End of The World” in the Martin Gusinde Anthropological Museum (Puerto Williams – Cape Horn – Chile). This is one of the most important anthropological museum in Tierra del Fuego, what makes me very proud to have my book in its library collection. In the picture is Mr. Alberto Serrano (General Director) with the copy of the book he has received from the author with an exclusively dedication to him and to the museum. It is a honor Mr. Alberto, thank you.

A wonderful picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” in Torres del Paine – Tierra del Fuego, Chile. In 2013 Torres del Paine was elected and considered the 8th wonder of the world. It is in this mystical place that the main character of the book meets Alnitak – the Guanacos protector, a character full of magic and mysteries, who claimed to be 369 years old and who teaches him many teachings about Life and the Universe. The photo was taken by Brazilian photographer Mauro Molina during his trip to the far south of America, when he is getting to know some of the places that served as the scenery for the book.

Amazing picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” in the Glacier National Park near the city of El Calafate – Patagonia Argentina. In the background is Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the only in the world that is growing, intriguing scholars from all over the world, due to the global warming. The city of El Calafate served as scenery for the opening chapter of the book, where it all began. Where the main character with his spiritual guide departs towards the region known as “The End of the World”. The photo was taken by photographer Mauro Molina during his trip to the far south of America, when he is getting to know some of the places that served as scenery for the book.

A wonderful picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” in the city of Geneva – Switzerland. Thank you so much Sophie for the amazing picture.

A wonderful picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” on the mountanis around the region of Puerto Varas – Chile, with the Osono Volcano and the Lake Llanquihue in the backgroung. Picture taken by Mauro Molina during his travel to the extreme South of America.

A wonderful picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” on Navarino Island, Cape Horn – Chile, extreme South of America. The photo was taken high above the Flag Mountain (Cerro Bandera), taking down the illustrious City of Puerto Williams and in the back ground the Beagle Channel. Navarino Island was scenery for the book’s final chapters, being the main outcome of the narrative. The island has been inhabited for thousands of years by the Yámana Fuegian ancestors. Currently Mrs. Cristina Calderón is the last pure and unique speaker of her ancestral language. Picture taken by Denis Chevallay.

A wonderful picture of the book “Between Rails and Stars” received from Switzerland, on board of the Glacier Express Train. The Glacier Express (GEX) is an express train connecting railway stations of Zermatt and St. Moritz via Andermatt in the central Swiss Alps. The journey from Zermatt starts at the dead end of an Alpine valley, the Mattertal, just below the world-renowned Matterhorn at an elevation of 1,606 m (5,269 ft) before it descends to the huge valley of the Valais in Brig. It traverses the 291-kilometre-long journey through the center of the Swiss Alps. If you wish to know more about the Glacier Express, please click here: Glacier Express Switzerland

A wonderful picture of the book “21 Days at The End of The World” on the lands of WCS Karukinka Park – Tierra del Fuego. The place served as scenery for an important chapter of the book. In times past these lands were inhabited for the Selk’nam people, who called the region Karukinka, which meant in their language “Our Land”. It is a private natural park managed by WCS – Wildlife Conservation Society, which is the owner and promotes within the park a new model for conservation of the rare biodiversity prevailing in that region. Thank you a lot to WCS Karukinka Park for the amazing picture.

Book “21 Days at The End of The World” in the Anthropos Institute Library in Germany. The Anthopos Institute has a history of perseverance. Founded in 1906 in Austria, its collection were confiscated by Gestapo. A few years later the Institute was reopened in Switzerland and had its collection repatriated. In the 1950s its headquarters officially moved to Germany. It is one of the leading bodies dealing with anthropology and has one of the most important anthropology libraries in the world, which is why I am very proud to have my book in its collection. Thanks Dr. Joachim Piepke for your consideration and contribution.

Cristina Calderón – The last living full-blooded Yagán and the only remaining native speaker of the Yagán language. Abuela Cristina (as she is dearly called) inspired on of the main characters of the book:

THIS ONE 2
